Children’s Church & Sunday School
Growing in Christ, Worship & Celestial Knowledge
Welcome to the Children’s Church of Celestial Church of Christ – Throne of Mercy Parish (ÌTẸ́ ÀNÚ), where our children learn about Jesus, grow in God’s Word, understand Celestial worship, build Christian character, and discover the joy of serving God.
Find Your Child’s Class
Our Sunday School is organized into three age groups so that each child can learn about the Bible, Celestial doctrine, worship, and Christian living in a way that is appropriate for their age and development.
Little Cherubs
Learning through Bible stories, recognition, coloring, matching, tracing, songs, prayer, and simple hands-on activities.
Junior Cherubs
Building Bible knowledge, Scripture memory, Celestial worship understanding, Christian character, and confidence through interactive learning.
Kingdom Builders
Developing deeper Bible knowledge, Celestial doctrine, leadership, responsibility, Christian character, and practical participation in church life.
Our Temporary Sunday Structure
While we continue cleaning, organizing, and developing our dedicated Children’s Church space, the children remain connected to the main sanctuary for important portions of worship before transitioning together to Sunday School.
This temporary structure allows our children to participate in congregational worship while also receiving age-appropriate Bible, Christian character, and Celestial doctrine instruction.
What Happens on Sunday?
| Stage | Activity | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| Main Service | Worship in Main Sanctuary | Children remain in the sanctuary through the bell/bowing portion and the Three Members’ Prayer. |
| After Three Members’ Prayer | Transition to Sunday School | Teachers escort all children together to the Sunday School area. |
| On Exit | Bathroom Break | Children use the bathroom before classroom activities begin. |
| Group Opening Activities | Prayer • Praise • Pledge • Affirmation | Children begin together as one Children’s Church before separating into their age groups. |
| After Opening | Break Into Age Groups | Children transition into Little Cherubs, Junior Cherubs, and Kingdom Builders for age-appropriate learning. |
| Classroom Period | Bible & CCC Learning | Children complete age-appropriate Bible lessons, CCC doctrine, Scripture work, crafts, demonstrations, and practical activities. |
| Top of Each Hour | Bathroom Opportunity | Scheduled bathroom opportunities are provided, especially for younger children. |
| 12:00 PM | Snack & Bathroom Break | Children eat together and receive another scheduled bathroom break. |
| During Main Service | Offering | Children participate in offering as part of the worship service. Offering is collected through the main church. |
| During Program | Tithes | Tithing is introduced in our Kingdom Builders class as part of learning biblical stewardship and giving. Children who receive an allowance may begin learning how to set aside and present their tithe. Those presenting tithes are escorted together to the main sanctuary. |
| Approx. 2:45 PM | Return to Main Sanctuary | Sunday School concludes and the children return together to the main sanctuary. |
| As Required | Special Church Work | Children may return to the sanctuary earlier when a special service or church activity requires their participation. |
| Take Home | Homework | Age-appropriate reinforcement activities may be sent home for continued learning and parent-supported review. |
Building Confidence Through Practice
Our Children’s Church activities are designed to do more than teach lessons. Through prayer, praise, Scripture reading, the Children’s Pledge, affirmations, worship practice, Bible activities, and participation in church services, children gradually become more confident in expressing their faith and participating in worship.
Throughout the Sunday School year, children receive age-appropriate opportunities to practice what they are learning so that Scripture, prayer, church order, worship, and Celestial doctrine become familiar and meaningful to them.
This journey also prepares them for Juvenile Harvest, when the children have the opportunity to bring together and showcase what they have learned through Scripture, prayer, hymns, worship, thanksgiving, service, and participation in the life of the church.
